Doctrinal Convictions
The Cross seeks to be biblical, historical (orthodox), and evangelical in its doctrinal convictions. The following are foundational convictions:
- We believe and teach that the canon of Scripture is God's Word, authoritative and inerrant. It is redemptive-historical in character, focusing on God's rescuing His people from their sin as He has done so throughout history.
- We believe and teach that there is one God who exists in complete unity and distinction in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- We believe and teach that salvation may be attained by faith alone in the finished work of Jesus Christ, and is not at all a product of an individual's own work.
- We believe and teach that mankind is under the dominion of sin because of the original guilt of Adam and Eve, corrupted totally in its nature without the natural ability to love and obey God.
- We believe and teach that Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, was fully divine and fully human while living among Adam's race.
- We believe and teach that Jesus Christ died as a substitution for the penalty of sin, and was then resurrected in bodily form.
